    I’m going to Disney World…

I’m going to Disney World… not really but I felt the Disney magic this past week working on a newsletter for The Walt Disney Company. Creating a design for a company that you know and have an interest in makes the project more exciting and fun. I think this has been my favorite project so far. I combined skills in both InDesign and Photoshop to create my newsletter. I felt like a design pro with using abilities in both of the software applications. It has made me want to get the software downloaded on my computer because I don’t know how I survived without Photoshop and InDesign all these years.…

    Today it finally clicked

Today was the first time that everything that we have learned throughout the semester clicked for me. I felt comfortable using both InDesign and Photoshop to create a newsletter. The company I decided to use was Walt Disney. Walt Disney is such a creative brand, so it makes designing something, even if it is a simple newsletter, more exciting and fun. When I first opened up InDesign to start creating my dummy layout for the newsletter, I will admit at first I began to feel nervous because we haven’t worked with InDesign in a couple of weeks. However, playing around with InDesign is like riding a bike. At first, you are…

A Huge Sigh of Relief…Photoshop Assignment is Done

I am so happy to announce that my Photoshop assignment is finally submitted, and I am so proud of my final work. It felt like an impossible journey at the beginning, but I finally got the hang of it later on in the project. I think why I felt so frustrated at the beginning is because it wasn’t coming naturally to me. I had to work and learn about Photoshop before jumping into the assignment. I think I would have been able to complete the project faster if I would have understood the program better before starting. I learned for future jobs with an unfamiliar software I need to learn…

    Frustration at its Finest

These past two weeks we have been working on Photoshop, and I think it is safe to say that I have never been so frustrated. I have been dying to learn how to use photoshop for a long time now.  I always see the amazing graphics people can create using the software. However, when I began using Photoshop software, I realized that it was a lot harder than I thought. I thought that Photoshop would be similar to InDesign, but I was very wrong. The storefront project is a lot harder than I thought and I feel very frustrated using the application. I need to rewatch and work the videos…

Essentia Water and the Lessons it Taught

Happy to announce that I finished my first InDesign project. I created my business card for a company that I would love to work for, Essentia water. Designing my business card was at first a struggle for me. I had a hard time trying to find a way to make my card look clean while also making sure it didn’t look like a five-year-old did it. My first business card had too much going on. I had a bunch of lines and too many logos. When I finished the card, I realized it didn’t model what the brand looks like and stands for. Essentia water is a clean and simple brand.…

    InDesign here I come

Adobe InDesign… something that has scared me until this week. I have always had a fear of Adobe InDesign because I always thought that I was terrible with computers, and to be good at Adobe, you had to have a good understanding of computers. I was very wrong. Adobe isn’t as scary when you are learning how to use the design software step by step. I will fully admit that the software is very overwhelming. There are a ton of different buttons, but once you play around with the various tools, it becomes easier. Our first day when we worked with InDesign, I felt very overwhelmed.   A completed graphic was…

    The Struggles of Being Creative

There is so much work that goes into creating a creative masterpiece. It’s not always easy and as we learned in class it is not always clear. https://giphy.com/gifs/art-fun-artist-3ohzdWsUVRcZC2L7Ms/links I had never really thought much about the creative process and the time and details it takes to go into a big creative work. I am the type of person that just throws all my thoughts out and I usually don’t rework the project again. However, after watching the creative process behind the Disney Pixar movie, Inside Out I have learned a bit more about what it takes to create good creative work. The writers of Inside Out started the movie with an idea based…

Go to makeup products (my routine)

I am constantly asked what type of makeup products I use. I am loyal to certain brands, but also love to mix it up trying new products. Two brands that I am consistently loyal to is Bobbi Brown and Estée Lauder. Both of these brands have continually put some of the best products on the market that make women feel and look beautiful. Some of my favorite Bobbi Brown products is their Undereye Corrector. If you are like me and have serious dark circles, this is the product for you. There isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t apply the corrector under my eyes. It hides the dark circles,…

    Breaking out the fall wardrobe

The cold weather is finally hitting, which means switching out our summer sundresses, sandals and shorts for sweaters, boots and jeans. Fall clothing is my favorite and I am so excited to share some of my top picks for this fall. A huge trend this fall is sweaters and blouses that are prints. Leopard print is huge right now. Pairing the leopard print blouse sweater or shoes with black jeans or a black leather skirt will be a huge trend this fall. Another big trend in terms of prints is camo. Camo shirts, jackets and pants are making an appearance everywhere. This pattern is a bold statement but brings a…

    Losing the freshman 15

The freshman 15 is real and very common, not only during freshman year but can carry over throughout your college career. I have found it difficult to overcome the freshman 15 because I was constantly being surrounded by unhealthy choices. In high school, we have more of a routine of when we eat out meals, scheduled school activities, and more structured sleep schedule. In college,  I found myself eating meals at weird times, snacking often, staying up late and not participating in as much physical activity. Identifying these changes helped me notice what my problems were and the steps I needed to take fix it. My first step and my…
